Vegan Living!

I forgot to mention that it is our 1 year anniversary for becoming vegan. After being vegetarian for 18 years I made the small leap to vegan last year. Happy 1 year anniversary!!! Yippee for green footsteps!

Running Away....

It has been a very long time since I posted an entry on our blog. In fact, I have not posted an entry since I began running. Yup, running. My friends Aimee and Jenny got me started into what is now an addiction. So far I have run several 5K, a few 10K, and a 1/2 marathon. Not bad for beginning in April.

These are a few of the pictures of Kurt and I at the Maple Leaf 1/2 Marathon in Manchester, VT. For my picture, it was around mile 9 and I had just come up a 2-mile long hill. I think that I was praying for it to be over by then.

Our most recent race was the Jack London 10K trail race in Nashua, NH. Cold and beautiful!

At least here I have learned to SMILE whenever I see a camera.

Here is a recap of our year, my first year of running and Kurt's continued strength and improvement.

Currently, we are training for a 1/2 marathon in February, the Half at the Hamptons. It is part of the run for beer series. We were looking for something to keep us motivated during the winter months. I am also trying out the Jeff Galloway program of running. This is where I am running for 5 minutes and walking for 1 minute. I have seen a definite improvement in my breathing, recovery, and time. I will keep you posted.

Emma's Dress

I could not help myself. While the sewing machine was out, I figured that I would make Emma's birthday present. Here are a couple photos of the result:This album is powered by BubbleShare - Add to my blog

Senior Project - FINISHED!!!

Well, it had been an extremely difficult few months in the Lyndeborough Berna household. Sammy has been working on her senior project intensely for the past few months and the house shows it. We no longer have a kitchen, dining room, or living room; they have all been taken over by "the project."

Sammy presented her project on Wednesday and I could not have been more proud! She was phenomenal!!! She had an audience of about 30 people (about 7 teachers and the rest students). She wowed me! Lots of people came up to me after to tell me what a great job she did and that it is one of the best that they have seen. Myself, having been witness to nearly a hundred senior projects in my 8 years at Souhegan, would also have to say that is the best that I have ever seen.

Here are some pictures of what she accomplished, while she was accomplishing it. I will post pictures of the black dress (which for some reason did not make it in this pile) later:

Sammy's Senior Project and her BIG decision!

Sammy is putting together her senior project. She researched the effect of and use of a costume designer. One of her culminating pieces is to put together an ensemble of outfits for a character in the play "The Apartment". She designed the outfits for two main characters and is making the outfits for the female character.

Okay, the big decision, as of right now (10:33 pm on Tuesday night) she is going to Ithaca. That means, Jeff and Judy get your engines ready (Ithaca is 2 hours and 34 minutes from your house - mapquest). I will update as necessary! As Tigger (from Winnie the Pooh) would say "TTFN!--Ta Ta For Now!"
